Funny, I was just about to comment on that with Time’s pic. I wonder how long it took the Park Service to get rid of that tree. I heard it was planted in 1942.
This is good stuff. I’m working on a screenplay that involves the White House, and your site has been invaluable. I’m also making some stuff up along the way, and I’m Googling a bunch of stuff to be somewhat accurate so I hope guys in dark suits and sunglasses don’t show up at my door.
Again, thanks for the site, and I’ve got the blog bookmarked now.
It would be good if photo suggestions went directly to Derek in an email. Often myself and others open up a post because they’re hoping a comment relating to the subject of the post has been made and it’s just a photo suggestion.
No disrespect intended Colton in making this suggestion, because in this case I agree, that is a cool find of a photo.
None taken. I agree, Peter. Maybe there could be a separate place to post cool photo links, or we all could just email webmaster@whitehousemuseum.org.
I keep an eye on sites like the Time White House Photo Blog and the Official White House Flickr Photostream, so 8 times out of 10 I’ve already seen the photo in question. That picture of the top of the light fixture in the Oval Office corridor is great, and I’ve added it to my collection, but it doesn’t really illustrate much. Time has a lot of great photos, tho. So–since I can’t blog every day that Time has another good photo on its WH Photo Blog–I’ve added a link to it on link list on the right. The official WH photostream is there already (thankyouthankyouthankyou, Pete Souza). Another good place is the Daylife syndicated White House photo page.
Was the issue of exactly where the Staff Secretary’s office ever resolved? If it wasn’t, any way to contact Pete Souza about it and any other Q’s or concerns we may have that he might answer? Also lets put on the WHM Pete in his office since the images we have of the photo office is dated.
